Targeting microRNAs using LNA
		microRNAs are a relatively newly discovered class of short RNAs that function naturally in cells to fine-tune the expression of genes.
		As a novel class of targets they have created significant excitement in the scientific community and drug industry where they are increasingly considered promising therapeutic intervention points.
		Santaris Pharma a/s is collaborating closely with leading scientists throughout the world to pioneer microRNA-targeted therapies. In 2008 the Company made medical history, when it advanced the world’s first microRNA-targeted drug (SPC3649) into human clinical trials. In 2009 the first clinical trial with SPC3649 was finalized and the next trial is planned.
