| Partnering LNA-based RNA-therapeutics |
In addition to its own drug development, Santaris Pharma a/s is leveraging its LNA Drug Platform and powerful Drug Discovery Engine through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies interested in RNA-targeted medicines. To date Santaris Pharma has four partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies: Enzon Pharmaceuticals (2006), GlaxoSmithKline (2007), Wyeth Pharmaceuticals (2008) and Shire plc (2009). |
These partnerships cover a combined total of >25 RNA-targets in various disease fields against which Santaris Pharma A/S will discover and deliver LNA powered drug candidates. |

In 2006 Santaris Pharma a/s signed an agreement with Enzon Pharmaceuticals worth >$200m in milestone payments, including two LNA drugs at the pre-clinical stage (EZN2968 and EZN3042) and co-development of six cancer target drugs selected by Enzon. In 2008, as a testimony to the strength of Santaris Pharma's Drug Discovery Engine, we completed the delivery of the LNA drugs within the agreed upon specifications against each of the six remaining targets, all within only 24 months of entering the agreement. Moving forward Enzon is committed to the late stage pre-clinical and clinical development of these lead candidates. Santaris Pharma retains the important commercial rights to the drugs within Europe. |
